Selective Coating & Potting

Protect your electronics with our expert coating and potting services, designed to ensure durability, reliability, and protection against harsh environmental conditions.

Benefits of Conformal Coating for Assembled Boards

At Steiner Elektronik Ltd., we offer conformal coating as an additional protective measure for your assembled PCBs. This thin, non-conductive layer shields your electronic components from environmental factors, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.

Key Benefits of Conformal Coating:

  • Moisture & Chemical Protection – Prevents damage from humidity, condensation, and exposure to harsh chemicals.
  • Enhanced Electrical Insulation – Reduces the risk of short circuits by insulating components against unintended electrical paths.
  • Improved Thermal & Mechanical Stability – Protects against temperature variations, vibration, and mechanical stress.
  • Extended Lifespan – Increases the durability of PCBs, reducing failures and maintenance costs.
  • Prevention of Corrosion & Contamination – Shields against dust, salt spray, and other contaminants that can degrade circuit performance.

Our state-of-the-art conformal coating solutions ensure your PCBs meet the highest industry standards for reliability in automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics applications.

Turn-Key PCB Assembly Solutions with Selective Coating

As part of our comprehensive turn-key PCB assembly solutions, we provide PCB conformal coating using 3x high-precision, high-speed coating machines.

Why selective coating?

Coating can be applied through various methods, including spraying, painting, and dipping; however, we prefer selective coating for our assembled boards. This method allows the machine to precisely apply lacquer to specific points on the board, as specified in the database. Components that are sensitive to coating can be excluded from the process. Additionally, selective coating is cost-effective, as it minimises material usage.

Selective coating of the PCB assemblies protects the electronic components against moisture and external influences.

Selective Coating vs. Traditional Coating Methods

Selective coating offers precise application, reducing material waste and protecting specific PCB areas, while traditional methods coat entire surfaces, often requiring masking. Choosing the right approach depends on design complexity, cost, and performance requirements.

High-Precision Selective Coating for Assembled Circuit Boards

ELITE DIMA DR-070 and CONEXIS CX-3040

The primary advantages of these two machines are their high dispensing speed, accuracy, and consistent performance in applying coating to the assembled circuit board. Additionally, the integrated rotation feature of the robot provides flexibility and speed, allowing for varnishing at angles of up to 60°, making it easy to access hard-to-reach areas.

The combination of high speed and precision enables the simultaneous operation of three valves:

  • Needle Valve: Offers extremely high accuracy
  • Narrow Beam Spray Valve: Balances high accuracy with high speed
  • Curtain Valve: Ensures extremely high accuracy

Other Advantages:

  • Equipped with a camera for easy tracking and recording of ongoing processes
  • Capable of operating in both inline and batch configurations
  • Provides precise control over the dispensed coating
  • Eliminates the need for initial protection of sensitive areas on the assembled board

These features make the dispensing robots highly configurable and easy to reconfigure, facilitating efficient coating, dispensing, and assembly operations.
